Ideas for the Park

We're trying to find the plans that were prepared following the 2018 Masterplan.

We have also applied for a Community Grant to develop a concept plan for the Waterfront Park.

2011 Plans

These were prepared at the end of the remediation. This reflects the fact that the Government promised the people of Mapua that the land would be for public use.

The Real Promise

The 2018 Masterplan is very easy to read, well-supported by an extensive consultation process and absolutely clear in its findings: no boat ramp at the waterfront, and a well-designed Waterfront Park for the enjoyment of the whole community.

So how did we end up back here, going back over the same old arguments?

Time to stop the circus: honour the promise, finish the park

Ideas from other Reserves

What do you think?

Go the blog page and write your ideas about you'd like to see at the new park or send some pictures. For example, it would be great to have an interpretive panel that told the whole story, from the first arrivals and Maori interactions through to the amazing story of how the park was rescued.
